@geoff-jowett @john-barry @chav Thank you. Happy toy car hunting!
Photo Piece Monday! Today we have a 1936 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet from Franklin Mint (FM). This is the photo car that appeared in the FM flyer. Like all FM’s photo cars, this beauty is 100% handbuilt and painted by a model maker, not an assembler at the toy factory. The built quality difference between this and the mass-produced version is similar to comparing a high-resolution image with a low-resolution photo. The windshield wiper motor is not missing. Please take a look at the FM flyer; it wasn’t there. The photos were done before FM finalized all the details. On the production version, FM added a little hole to the upper edge of the windshield frame to serve as the contact point for the wiper motor assembly. On the photo car, there is no hole in the windshield frame. Enjoy!
Went on another last-minute business trip. Will resume posting on Thursday.
Happy Veterans Day! Let’s look at an American icon today. Here we have a prototype from Franklin Mint – a 2005 Ford Mustang convertible. FM ultimately released the convertible version as the 2007 GT (metallic grey with black top) and the 2007 Shelby GT500 (red with black top). Not sure why they only released the 2005 Mustang in the hardtop format. Enjoy!
Cool comparo. Not sure which is closer to reality. The '35 seems to have more tan in it.
I guess whichever has more gray. Cordoba gray.
