Built in Dagenham, England from 1958 to 1962, this Fordson (a part of the Ford Motor Company of the time) was built both for the European market and also sold in the United States as the “Ford 2000 Diesel”.
It had either a Ford-Perkins 2.5L 3-Cylinder diesel or the standard Ford 2.5L 3-Cylinder diesel. Both produced 45 HP at the engine, 32.25 HP at the drawbar and 38.83 HP at the PTO. It had a 2 WD system with 6-Speed unsynchronized manual transmission. Wheelbase was 71 inches and the tractor weighed in at 3510 pounds.
Universal Hobbies builds a highly detailed version of these farm tractors that more than competes with Ertl’s ‘Precision’ offerings and those of the SpecCast ‘Classic Series’ models. In addition to separate castings, instead of 2-dimension simulations on standard ‘replica’ scale models, the UH tractor exhibits actual wiring, hydraulics and select operational pieces, opening features, and an incredible attention to detail.
The 3-point hitch system operates fully, tethered with realistic chains, features include an opening toolbox on the driver’s left inner fender, a lift-up seat to show off the detailed carriage and it offers authentic steering and scaled tie rods, steering arms and suspension. Unlike most farm tractors of this size made by others, the hood opens to display a grand replication of the Ford diesel!
Overall, very nicely crafted; I only wish they would make some 1/24th scale automotive iron in this detail-rich tradition!
from Fordsons "blue period"! Nice vehicle Tony and what Bob said! Here's a 1/24 kit I have on the way from the U.S. Post takes 3-5 weeks these days, and I'm really looking forward to having a go at it.

Good (great) choice Geoff.....I`ve been following that kit for several years.....just not willing to buy another kit until I build what I have
