1961 Buick Electra prototype by Goldvarg
Dear collectors friends, here is the first prototype of the 1961 Buick Electra.
this model was shown at the Goldvarg Nuremberg Toy Fair.
Still many things to improve and note that the wheels are from the 1962 Buick, and not the ones that will be fitted with this model.
I am thinking in adding white roof to the red version.photo no longer available

Very nice as usual. Wouldn't expect anything less from you! I would say that if you do the white roof on the red one, don't forget to do the rear deck panel in the roof color as I see that the Electra two-tone cars had this panel in the same color as the roof as the Ditzler color states in the lower right corner.

Curtis is correct regarding the rear panel color, and I would love to see this two-tone color scheme offered on the '61 Electra coupe models.
Beautiful cars -- among my greatest favorites from the 1960's.
Now maybe it's just me, but I was raised in a suburb of Chicago where it was affluent enough where the Buick dealer out-sold the Chevrolet dealer there. Now I didn't start selling Buicks until 1967, after college, but I do think two-tones were not too common in my town. So I would buy an all red coupe from Sergio, but not in a two tone. Sorry. I like one solid color. And even if a Buick were three tones they don't get sporty. Good cars. Not sporty. But then I don't even like a vinyl roof on a Riviera. So I may be jaded.
Is the blue shade Laguna Blue Poly? If so then a Bimini Blue roof would really set it off IMHO. My fave color combo for this car is Dublin Green Poly with a Kerry Green roof (or the reverse); a very popular color seen back then. Most 61 Buicks seen in my area back in the day were tutone. To be honest, red is not a color I would use on this one as there were many other more exciting colors offered. However if you are going with red then a white roof would liven it up. Just one person's thoughts.....but be assured I will be buying one as I love this car.
You know he may be right. It is an Electra, maybe a little too regal for that red? Have you seen it in a silver or a gold? It's an Electra 225, also known a duece-and-a-quarter, my man. And I just noticed the gas door. I'm not a big fan of trim around this part. Too gawdy. Just be more careful when you fill up.
Very nice Sergio. I will agree with Don about the two tone finish. I was only 7 years old in 1961 but was still a car nut. Tone paint was not very popular and starting to fade out at least where I grew up in the Detroit area. The 1961 Chevy had the, I guess what you would call the "jet accent stripe" on the Impala but the rest of the GM lines were usually mono tone. Contrasting colors were popular with the convertible because of the "C" pillar width. Then with the offering of vinyl tops the contrasting color became popular again particularly around 1965. Just my opinion.

I agree with Jack and Don that even a 2 dr Electra is more elegant than sporty, so perhaps a more subdued color than red would be more in keeping Buick customers' tastes. Maybe the darker Rio Red? And a contrasting interior like the 61's silver/grey interior combo would tone it down too
And as we have come to expect, the model will be gorgeous with great shape and details.

That would be cool- to have a matching rear panel!
Beautiful model! I have to agree that I love red but not on this car. Too flashy for an Electra
I love the all red, The blue would be good as a two tone though.
Looking forward to this model! I have the '62 in Cameo Cream and it's excellent....
I plan to include some photos this weekend - a true sign of an outstanding model is when it drives interest in the 1:1 version that did not exist before. Can't say that I ever focused much on '62 Buick Electras, but that changed with your model. Great stuff!
