Ford Escort is one of the most iconic cars in thr Ford Motor Company history. The third grneration was released in 1990. Since 1983 till 1993 a sedan version had its own name Orion. Of course such companies like Minichamps, Vanguards and Ixo reproduced Escort Mk3 in 1/43 scale. Sadly, most of them focused on RS version and ignored standard hatchbacks and Orion sedans.

Fortunately, this gap is filled by Schabak. This German manufacturer was being active during 80- 90s making actual models of the German cars. They have opening parts and made in obsolete style but they look very good. Nice to see Made in Germany signature on the baseplate.

Models were packed into cardboard boxes designed in different style. On the opposite side you can see some models from Schabak's range.

I had a few models by them a long time ago. I don’t remember which ones as this was in the 80’s. There was a huge toy store at South Coast Plaza here in Costa Mesa CA that I’d frequent. They had all scales of model cars they would bring in from Europe so I was like a kid in a candy store. I miss those days.

@100ford2003 Schabak produced many interesting models. All of thrm were true diecast. Another interesring manufacturer from Germany was Gama.

I think that model you show is not an MK3, I think it's a MK4

And talking about the Orion, it would be a MK 2 as the Orion was the 4 doors sedan version of the Escort.

Here is the Escort MK3 by Minichamps in XR3 form. Harv Goranson showed the regular version in red also made by Minichamps

Cheers

@keko-romero As far as I know if we talk about Orion- Mk1 was released in 1983 ( based on Escort Mk3), Mk 2 was launched in 1986 ( based on Escort Mk4), sales of Mk 3 started in 1990 ( based on Escort Mk5). Since 1993 Ford reduced separate Orion range and all cars became Escorts. So I think that this is the 1990 Ford Orion Mk3 if we speak only about Orion.

@keko-romero This is a very nice model. I have a standard one reissued under Maxichamps brand. In my opinion the best Escorts Mk3 and 4 were produced by Vanguards. Sadly nobody made standard Mk3 5-door hatchback in a good quality.

@keko-romero

I like the model and i’ll bet i’d like the 1:1. Their are certain cars that, IMO, look great in white/black. This model resembles my ‘78 VW Scirocco special edition. I have great memories of it as it was my first new car.

Schabak and Gama seemed to pick up where Schuco left off. In fact Gama's Audi 100 is marked on the base as Schuco 301 639. Here are Schabak's Golf GTI Mk. 2, Audi 90 Quattro, and BMW Z1.
