Shorter and lower than its sedan counterpart, the 327 shared the famous BMW grill and a streamlined form representative of the more progressive designs of the 1930s.

This is great model and we can guess great little car to have gone tearing down the autobahn in. I have a closed coupe by the same people (they made some excellent models) but it does not carry the sense of speed and the open road as this convertible does.

Here's a precis cobbled from wikipedia explaining the Bristol connection. - Bristol 400 was the first ever car produced by Bristol Aeroplane Company of Great Britain. In 1947, BAC formed a car division, to be called Bristol Cars. BAC visited the BMW factory in Soviet-controlled East German and returned with plans for the 327 model and the six-cylinder engine as official war reparations. They also took-on BMW engineer Fritz Fiedler to lead their engine development. In 1947, they released their 400 coupe, a lengthened version of the BMW 327. BAC had also acquired Frazer Nash who had held a licence to build BMW models pre-war.
The BMW dealership where I go for service have a collection of rare 1:1. They have a 1938 Coupe on display in their museum.
