A little nod to a simpler more relaxed time, circa 1962 at the A&W Drive In. A hang out that some of us can remember when we were a little younger. A good time was had by all. The cars involved are a '56 Nomad by Franklin Mint, '55 Bel Air by Sunstar, '36 Ford custom coupe by Motor City's Design Studio, custom '32 Ford roadster by Testors much modified by me, '54 Bel Air sedan by Motor City's USA Models, '40 Ford pickup with my mods by Motor City's USA Models, '59 Oldsmobile by NEO, Conquest 1956 Buick and a '49 custom Mercury by Motor City's Design Studio. The people, Vespa scooter and motor cycle are made of pewter by Arttista.

Looks great! Lots going on which makes this an interesting diorama. All the figures are pewter? Wow....no plastic, now that's rare!
Very cool. I worked at an A&W when I was teenager for several summers. While the cars in the parking lot were newer, the restaurant still looked a lot like that one.

Nice setup Curtis. Great way to start the day.
Very nice Curtis. It sure is a busy place. I miss these A&W Drive-Ins.
@chris The girl with the ponytail at the window ordering is the only non pewter figure.
Terrific diorama! Love the hot rods among the "stock" cars of the era - I've found it hard to find any decent "middle range" hot rods in this scale; they seem to be either on the very low end or the very high end of the spectrum - your customization of the '32 Ford is excellent. Kudos also on the diner and the "mini scenes" within the overall project. Really enjoy it.
Really well done, Curtis. Your use of the Arttista figures just puts your model cars into living action. That's what's missing in too many dioramas. You've set a high standard for many of us to strive toward. Keep it up! And thanks for posting. David H
That looks great, we still have a couple of A&Ws around here, but no drive-ins or car hops.
I remember for about a hour, I think it was my second summer working there, three car-hops called off for one evening shift. So I got to cover the job until the boss could find someone to come in. It might not have been ideal, and I'm sure a couple of patrons were probably disappointed with a guy, but I did make some tips. LOL!
