Pretty good likeness, but it just lacks something. So I cleaned it up and started the process.
A good (but not thick) coat of primer, and then LOTS of masking tape. (I still messed up.)
Research was easy, for the Cadillac "30" is often seen at shows and just as often photographed. Google makes is fun! I liked this variety of red, but blue seems to be much more common with restorations. While this 1909 car had a lot of brass, the next several years made the shine of brass even more popular.
I decided against the white rubber tires, for black rubber was on its way even when this Cadillac was new. The spokes were wooden, as was the dash and a lot of the hidden parts of the body. I couldn't make the windshield metal frame as straight as I like, so I haven't installed "glass." So here it is, after a lot of fun (spread over more than a week).
And I'm looking at this one. . . maybe.
Enjoy! David H
Nice work, David. Even the old guy with the cane approves what he sees. I like the scenes with the car by the houses. It s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
