Last night I applied my last faltering touches to an IDEM (France) kit, a Simca Chambord. Produced 1957-1961 by the French firm of Simca in a formerly Ford plant at Poissy, this Simca started production life as a Ford Vedette. In late 1957, three years later, the now- Simca Vedettes were given new names and a new, elongated body that included a more ornate front end and large tailfins. The V8 engine was uprated to 84 hp, and the larger and more elaborate model was christened the "Chambord." Over the next four years, some sixty thousand were made and sold, primarily in France, and then the production facilities were exported to Brazil for continuation.
This Chambord in kit form was produced by IDEM, primarily in white metal, with nicely detailed front end, and a well-fitted glass (clear plastic) window insert. (Click on pictures for enlargement.)
It's an interesting car and a most interesting model to build. Variations (already built!) have been made by Dinky and Norev, including a Presidential convertible. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite French cars of its price range. I didn't know the background you provided though....interesting!
@jack-dodds Interestingly this, and the English Ford Pilot, may have been the last commercial production use of the Ford flat head V8 (aka a sidevalve) that began life in the USA as the V8-60 circa 1932.

Great build. Love the 2 tone colors that you chose. Looks a lot like a mid-late 50's Packard/Studebaker.
Great job on the two-tone. I love Pierre et son chien also!
@john-quilter John; I was aware of the Ford Pilot using the old Ford V-8 but had I no idea about the Simca Chambourd using it; especially that late. I am very surprised.
Super paint job David.
@bob-jackman Thanks, Bob. I tried hard but it's not a professional level. Fun, too~
