I've been updating my pics of my remaining Politoys (used to have all of the M-series before speed wheels came about). I have four Zagato-bodied cars (and one isn't an Alfa!)

No. 509 - 1962 Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato. There were 626 of the real car, plus 3 prototypes. Every now and then one shows up on BaT.

No. 516 - 1963 Alfa Romeo TZ1 Tubolare Zagato - There were 112 of these built between 1963 and 1967. This is the car made previous to the TZ2 that Karl and I posted a few days ago. 'Tubolare' refers to the car's tubular spaceframe chassis.

No. 530 - 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia 2600 Sprint Zagato (SZ) - There were 105 of these built, and they had a little more power and top speed than the normal 2600 Sprint coupe.

No. 532 - 1965 Alfa Giulia Gran Sport Quattroroute Zagato - That's correct, 1965. Between 1965 and 1967 just 92 of these cars were made, replicating the 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider Zagato from the early 1930s. Politoys packed a lot into this little model, including two tops, folding windshield, opening doors and hood, chassis detail, and steering operated from the steering wheel.

Politoys was a classic diecast brand in the mid to late 1960s before, like many others, they cheapened their offerings and fitted them with low friction wheels.

Nice looking models, and they are over 50 years old. Do you remember where you could buy them back in the 1960s?

Replicars, Sinclair's, and several toy and hobby shops in the greater Chicago area. During my college years in the Windy City I ferreted out a few on the North Side here and there. After mid-1974, I had to seek them out from other collectors via Traders Horn.
