A while back I passed on a Precision Miniatures (PM017) 1932 Duesenberg SJ Speedster because the bidding surpassed my threshold. At the time, I second guessed myself because they don't come up very often, and when they do, they're usually missing something irreplaceable. Anyway, I found another from a dealer who was willing to be flexible on the price and it arrived today. I must say, it's a lot nicer in hand than the pictures imply. It's long, for one thing and it's got a lot of detail and separate parts for an older model.
Beautiful model, Randy. You did well to acquire it. Love the detail and colour combination..
Beautiful model. Glad you got it.

That's a beautiful model and one I'm unfamiliar with. Great colors.

Very nice Duesenberg. I believe that it was also offered in kit form.
Is it possible Automodello did the same? This kind of Torpedo model seems familiar.
Very nice Duesenberg. I believe that it was also offered in kit form.
Now that would be my favorite... I still LOVE building model cars.

With a siren to the front bumper? Nice car for a fire marshal to drive! 😏
I wonder if it is the same company as https://www.hobbydb.com/marketplaces/hobbydb/subjects/pmi-precision-miniatures-brand ?
@karl "One of America's premier designers, Gordon Buehrig penned two Speedster designs for the Weymann Body Company. The first was for short wheelbase chassis and known as the 'Tapertail' Speedster, and the second for a supercharged long wheelbase chassis, dubbed the 'Fishtail' Speedster. The latter was commisioned by Capt. George Whittell, who was an honorary fire marshall. Probably one of the largest two seater cars ever built, the 'Fishtail' Speedster came equipped from the factory with a siren and an emergency light.
Whittell barely used his Duesenberg and when the car was acquired by the famous Harrah Collection in the 1960s, it only had 1342 miles on the counter. Still in absolute original condition, the massive 'Fishtail' Speedster was shown at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where Duesenberg was the featured marque. It was lined up alongside the 'Tapertail' Speedster."

@randyrusk A couple of years ago I found one in yellow/blue...
and a glimpse on the Duesenberg shelf, currently more a parking lot than a showcase
and, from coachbuilt.com, two pics of the real car, showing the proportions of the car

@ralf Thanks for the history! I prefer to collect models made of the real vehicle and the siren made me skeptical at first. I'm glad to know it's a legit miniature of a real one-off car.
