Anybody into woodies? I've been collecting 1/43 for about 30 years now and fairly early on I decided to focus on woodies. I remember getting excited about them when the first 1/25 Revell model kit came out, a 1931 Ford in 1964. I was hooked! A couple years later I turned 16 and bought my first 1:1, a 1948 Mercury. The 1948 Mercury in the first photo on the fourth shelf front center is a model I did of my first 1:1 Mercury in it's 1967 Cougar Inverness Green. I've had an insatiable appetite for woodies ever since that first Revell model. Collecting these little 1/43 gems have certainly helped satisfy my craving for them since I don't have the space for all the 1:1's, only one at a time for those. Anyway I am waiting for another four of these little guys to arrive soon! I don't know where I am going to put them!

Hope you enjoy!

Wow! What an incredible collection. I didn't know that there were that many 1/43rd's available in woodies. Are they mostly metal?

Yes mostly white metal and some resin. No plastic toys or rubber.

Curtis, what a great collection.........

Aren't some of them conversions, from other body types, that you built yourself? Is that correct, because I didn't think there were that many models produced.

Thanks for the view, Curtis. Here are a couple of non-1/43 Tootsietoys (pics) that aren't seen too often today. Remember, gang, these were dime store toys when toys often cost just that!

I will admit that our 1:43 woodies tend to be just a bit more realistic than these old Tootsietoys. But would a Brooklin stand up to the sandpile?

Great collection Curtis! I've enjoyed seeing your builds through the years here..

I don't think I see any on your shelves that I have and you don't, unless you want to count this one:

Yes, about a dozen of them. Also some color change models but the vast majority are one example each. There are a few '39 Fords.

Harvey, yes I have that one in one of my early "enhancements". It's the only model that

I have that is "toy like". It does have real wood panels. Yours is certainly a mint as bought example. I wish someone would do the Plymouth wagon in todays standards, it would be a welcome edition to my collection.

Thanks John. The one you did for me is on the second self of the first photo in the center behind the red Cadillac.

Great collection....I have about 10 woody wagons, so mine would fill one row on one of your shelves!

I see you did the wheels too - nice!

Just did a quick count - I have about 62 woodies. This includes a few "fake" ones like Country Squires with applique "wood".
