I purchased this Madison 1956 Lincoln some time ago and decided to get it out and give it a good clean. In the process, I decided that the wide wide whitewalls that came on the model just didn't look right. I replaced them with blackwalls to give the car a completely different look.I think this is one model that blackwalls really suit it.
Nice model and certainly a "different look"Β for a 1956 top-of-the-line-Lincoln Premiere 4-door sedan. Whitewalls were still optional in 1956 on Lincolns and although it's possible one could be ordered this way it would've been extremely rare. IMO, this "brown & black combo"Β works.
Did you first "thin"Β these whitewalls and not like the look?Β Β
-OR-
Did you go for this "blackwall look"Β form the start?
Β
@chris. I had the blackwalls in my spare parts box. I would have liked to try a thin whitewall but don't have any on hand.

Got it.
If you're "handy," you can always make them (I've done it several times ).Β Β
Take the WW tires you don't like, use a small washer as a guide, place it over the tire and with a fine-point black SharpieΒ Β trace the NEW outer diameter (OD ) of the whitewall....thus making a smaller scale whitewall width.
For 1956, Lincoln's optional white-walls were c.2.75" wide (SEE PIC ), so that's "the look"Β you'd what to replicate when/if you "thin down" your whitewalls.
If you mess up, inexpensive TAMIYA FLAT WHITE acrylic paint can be used to make new whitewalls.
It's all so very EZ-peazy!Β πΒ
Here's just a few examples of how I've "adjusted" whitewall width (to the proper factory correct size ) on model tires using washers & black Sharpies.

I like the look. I did that to the Brooklin β55 Capri Sedan. It looks pretty cool. I had an extra one, so I wanted to give it a different look.
Iβve taken photos of it, just havenβt finished them up for posting yet.

I have the model and agree that the whitewalls are too wide but I don't care for the blackwalls as an alternative.
It looks excellent this way, too. After all, it's a Lincoln ! In any case, diecast automobile models can be of any car at any time in it's career and the blackwall tires here would certainly be a case in point.Β

Bob, might you have a pic?
@chris Crhis I'm sorry but I'm an old low tech guy who doesn't even own a digital camera. Using a computer is a stretch for me.
Ken, if you will email me your address, I think I have a set of whitewalls for your Lincoln which I will send to you at no cost. robert61jackmanatgmaildotcom
@mikedetorrice I never saw a 56 Lincoln with blackwall tires and had the model had blackwall tires when it was introduced I doubt that it would have sold.

Right. As I noted, it was still VERY POSSIBLE to order a 1956 Lincoln without whitewall tires but would've been extremely rare.

Bob, as long as you have dual working influxers and your bit-modem despoolers are not arrigated to spawn R47-1, then compile key strokes to inplause direwect (with a WC ) drives to simply upload. Even with launch APPS and convience splicing it's really no big deal to post pics. Download condensed files from PDF legends in APPEX 12 to facilatate the fastest avenue to share photos, download, video & pics.Β Β
It's easy! πΒ
