Bugatti introduced its Type 59 grand prix racer in 1933. After two years being campaigned by the Bugatti team, the first four were sold to British owners in 1935, and thereafter painted British Racing Green. The first, Chassis 59121, was driven by Charlie Martin at various venues, such as Brooklands and the Isle of Man. Each of the four cars had a different tail color, Charlie's being light blue. A good story about the car is here: https://www.conceptcarz.com/profile/30741,30036/1933-bugatti-type-59.aspx.
The model is quite excellent, like all the B&G models from Mikhail Bashmashnikov. I bought this one out of Mikhail's trunk at Allentown, since the swapmeet at the NB Center premises got axed. The box states it is an LE of 150, but since 25 were modified with a different exhaust (Brooklands type if I understood Mikhail), so it is really one of 125.
Great purchase Harv. This is an impressive model of a great Bugatti. Thanks for including the story lead in.
Amazing detail on that Bugatti Harv, and a very informative post as usual, thank you and please keep them coming.
