Station wagon bodies for Buick were built by Ionia until 1964. Until all steel wagons were built from 1954 on, these Woody wagons were fashioned in small numbers. They were expensive, took a long time to build, required maintenance to preserve the wood, yet were exceptionally beautiful cars. Some years ago Brooklin did a nice 48 Buick Roadmaster Estate wagon replicating Buick’s Ionia bodied woody.

@david-knight I really appreciate how you make the extra effort to match up your photos with the pics of the real vehicles. It’s a great way to compare them from every angle. Thank you!
I modified two of them some years ago and sold them. I regret it now...
(sorry for the poor picture quality)

Ralf, it appears to me that you really improved the BRK product. I remember looking at this Brooklin model and turned it down. The windshield treatment left too much to be desired, and the lack of chrome just wasn't true to Buick styling of that era. I would like to see others that you have improved.
David, many thanks for your kind words! I am preparing a post with a good amount of pictures; it will show several models that I enhanced over the years. 😉
