I have had this Testors kit for a while, and a week ago I was ready for something different.  Testors kits, in my estimation, are pre-painted and well done, leaving just some enjoyable if somewhat painstaking assembly of parts.  This one turned out to be a different task.  First, let me say that I am not into models of racing cars and I have never seen a Ford GT40.  I had to follow the directions carefully to get the engine into its correct position, and I think I missed that a little, creating a major gap.  So here is the saga:

1966- Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant at Sebring, holding the lead at Sebring until a cooling system problem forced them out in the 17th hour.

 And now add the body:

The finished product, with some problems evident:

Interesting model, but I don't think I'll try another GT40 this month.

Is that the most complex of the Testors/Bburago metal 1/43 kits you've put together?  It seems that way... 🤔

Is the Engine too far forward that the rear hatch does not fully close?  Otherwise, that V-8 engine looks great!

Thanks, Karl.  The engine is placed correctly by a screw through the underside of the chassis.  I think the problem is in the passenger compartment upper body placement.  It hasn't been solved with any simple adjustment that I can find.  Yes, this is the most complex Testors model I've attempted.  I think my next one will be an old WM Jaguar 120 that's been taking up shelf space for a while.  Or maybe one of the Heller plastics.  But I don't remember ever building an Entex kit, and it's a Ferrari.  But. . . No more racing cars at this time!

That Western Models kit is a nice one. I've built two and found everything fit together well with no surprises. I love the XK120.

Great engine so just display with rear hatch up!  Smile  Can't wait to see the Western progress!  😆

This Jag looks like a factory built Western but the windscreen looks a bit low?  For your reference, when you start building!

Like many Testors kits it shows its Joueff/Eagles Race/Universal Hobbies provenance. The original Joueff had all those opening features, and the front body too I think, but it was in the later Gulf light blue color. Sadly, the Joueff's shape is not as accurate as later Ixo, Minichamps, and Spark versions of the GT40.
