Corgi Classics 9041 1912 Rolls-Royce ‘Silver Ghost'
What was to be the final model in the Corgi Classics range,
9041 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost was released in May 1966.
This is biggest of the of the 1960s Corgi Classics. It is the largest of this series at over 4½ inches in length and was released in a display pack rather than the previous cardboard boxes..
The construction method was unusually for Corgi, having a plastic body and roof moulding which included a brown window surround. The chassis was diecast and has all sorts of great features such as carriage lights,a spare tire on the roof and the now traditional RR grill and flying lady. This model was considered by many collectors and experts as the finest model created in 1/43 scale in the 1960s.
The Rolls-Royce was withdrawn with the rest of the Classic range in 1969 having sold 199,000 units.
The car on which the model is based, on a 1912 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Double Pullman Limousine with coachwork by Baker, a centuries old coachbuilder who previously built Royal coaches. It had a7.3 litre, six cylinder engine capable of 6 mpg with a top speed of 60 mph.
The actual car was sold at Bonham’s in 2012 for 4.7 million UK Pounds. It is the only known survivor with this coachwork and has the exterior finished in cream with green accents and roof unlike the Corgi Classics all-silver version.

Great looking model, and it was made over 50 years ago. Thanks for pictures and story about it.
