CVCC (Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion) was an innovation Honda created in the 1970s to lower emissions and get better fuel economy. Essentially there is a second small intake valve that sends fuel into a small pre-chamber where the spark plug is. Once ignited, this fuel ignites a larger but leaner air-fuel mixture in the main cylinder area, resulting in overall better fuel economy and lower emissions. This model was made from 1975 to 1980.
