Eagle's Race Ford GT40 opening features
Question to anyone who owns the Eagle's Race/Universal Hobbies/Jouef Evolution Ford GT40. I've had this model for over a decade, and just remembered - they put decals over the doors such that one had to cut the decal in half to open them. It also appears the rear engine door should swing backward - mine does budge a little, but then is hung up on something I can't see. I don't want to force so as not to break. And what about the little front spare compartment - should that open? Please inform if you where able to work these features. Thanks.

On my Jouef GT-40 the front spare tire "hood" opens & the rear section pivots almost 90 degrees.....
The front access panel pops off, or should I more correctly say drops off. It is not hinged. The rear engine bay section on mine swings open easily and without any snags. I did not have to cut the decals to see the details inside. Since I acquired mine via a trade with Pastor John, he might know if the decals had to be cut.
OK, good info...
This is one of the better-detailed older diecasts, and it'd be a shame not to see all the features. I'll probably have to take it apart to see what's holding it up. Thanks for the input.

I used to have one, and no decal cutting was needed.
It was sold when I realized how well Ixo caught the shape of the car, much better replica.
Now I hear Minichamps will release a GT40 with opening rear cover (at first, cars 1 and 2 from '66 LM). Time to upgrade again?
I've had (and have) a number of them. Never had to cut the decal. It is a great model for the price.
I believe that Jouef offered two versions.............
One was the basic (non opening version) and the other was the detailed one......very different pricepoints with different packaging.
I'm quite sure that I have both versions, although I don't recall where in my toy-room they're located since many of my earlier models are obscured by later purchases.
