Is there anybody who did a 1907 Mercedes 120 HP racer in 1/43 scale?

Hi Nickies,

I thought I had a 1907 Merc among some old Brumm's, Nope! But I did find some similar lookers or ones closer in age.

The 1st Mercedes and first automobile with modern architecture. (Front honeycomb radiator, engine, steering wheel, seats, fuel tank & differential)

Distiller model

Newer, but a similar look. Model by eMc

IMG 4936

Closer in age but important in Automotive History, the Blitzen Benz's

Both by Brumm

This one another stunner by eMc, just check out the chain drive and it's sprocket.

@stewil Thanks for your reply. The closest I can find is a Lesney Model of Yesteryear but in a smaller scale.

Actually, it's a 1908 at 1/54, but that still doesn't help you.

Loved those Utube videos, thank you for the link Nickies. The 1901 Mercedes has many similarities to the 1907 car. In fact that big Fiat shown in another video made me remember that I had a model of that one. I then saw some more of these oldies on display and will send a few more pics of cars from that era for your pleasure.

The Utube Fiat, Model by ???                                                                        and an Itala, Model by RIO

In 1907 this monster was roaring around. Model by ???

Here it is sans body work. At the time many horse drawn fire wagons lost their horses which

were replaced by this FWD unit - viola - a fire engine.

Including racing an airplane                                                     1907 also yielded autos for another audience. Model by the Franklin Mint

Another race car from 1907. Model by Brumm                                       The Fiat was probably the biggest name in racing at the time

My favorite car of the era is this one. Model by Brumm                                         With a painting of it hanging in my office

Besides the little Yesteryear, the closest I can come is this 1908 Benz Prince Heinrich Two Seater (seen at the Indy Vintage races).

@stewil Thank you for sharing.............. I owned for many years the Franklin Mint 1/12 1907 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. This was quite a model. I also had the 1/8 Posher 1/8 1907 Fiat Racer.

Hi again Nickies,

I have that FM 1907 RR Silver Ghost on display but your comment reminded me that I also have a 1/20th scale Revival kit of the 1907 Fiat that is partially built in the closet with some other kits. Hope to get back to it sometime as I now know how to create wood grain on pot metal or grey plastic wooden wheel spokes.

Always wanted to build a Pocher kit but they are just too big. Pretty cool models though.

The Pocher 1907 Fiat was a wonderful model I bought more than 50 years ago ( this is true ) and luckily for me, it was fully assembled. I accidently destroyed it 15 years ago when it felt down from a high reaching shelve from my display room at the time. This is amazing how much money these kits are commanding now but I don't think anybody is interested to buy them.

The Pocher became less popular because they were time consuming to build and very complicated to assemble. When FM came with the 1/12 scale models as the 1907 Rolls Royce, they had all the working features including lighting of all lamps ready to light up. DM followed in the same scale with the 1930 Cadillac Roadster with similar features and built quality.  All were relatively affordable for the time.

Then came the Bauer Models around 2012. They became the pinnacle of details and materials quality for the 1/12 scale at close to 2K a piece like the 1934 Mercedes Benz 500K Roadster. I bought one but never told my wife what I paid LOL.

Nobody want to be involved in an endless project anymore.

I assume that some models of Brass Era Mercedes- Benz is posdible to find by Brumm, RIO or EMC ( I mean only 1/43 scale). If I don't mistske intetesting M- B models were in ZISS catalogue.

May be such manufacturers like EKO and RAMI also were able to make these models. I hsve watched exactly plastic Blutzen Benz for Indy.

Some handbuilt manufacturers from Russua made 1/43 1908 M- B Grand Prix, because this car won the race beetweem St- Peterdburg and Moscow in that year. The driver's name was Willy Pegue.

There was a little article in Russian magazine last year about handbuilt M- B models.

Here is a photo of 1908 Metcedrs 140 HP. Don't forget that in that time Mercedes and Benz wrre different brands.

The model of 1908 Mercedes 140 HP was made in 1/4 scale by a brand " CarManiac Atelier". The artisan used resin for the body snx white metal for separate details. He made 35 units.
