While racing transporters are not a big area of interest for me I do have a few of them in 1:43 scale from Autocult, CMC, Conrad, Exoto, IXO, Kenna, Matrix, Neo, Old Cars of Italy, Premium Classixxs, Schuco, Spark, and now SMTS. Perhaps the uniqueness of them, often built exclusively for the vehicle(s) they were hauling, is what I find so appealing. Regardless, I added a new (old) one I'd never seen before when it popped up for sale recently.

It's the SMTS AEC Swift Gold Leaf Team Lotus Transporter. This thing is a monster! It's heavy (lots of white metal), it's detailed, and it's a real showstopper.

I haven't put the side mirrors on it yet because I'm not sure where I'll display it, so here are some pics from various angles.

Opening those side doors reveals lots of details inside, too, including a table vise and a toolbox.

Lift the tailgate and the translucent skylights reveal the space within.

The chassis has some nice details as well.

There are even five packets of accessories, all made of metal.

I'm really happy with this purchase.

That is a great looking model. Do you have a nice race car to display with it?

Hmm.... seems like it IS a "big area of interest."   🤔 🤨 🤔 LoL    Yes, this looks great, "slap on"  on those goodies & post additional pics; I'd love to see this thing fully dressed!

@ed-davis I’ll need to dig through my boxes… Kinda hoping Harvey G. has a suggestion or two.

  1. @chris Ya caught me. 🙂 I realized after making that list that maybe I have a few more that I first thought. Probably a quarter of them are recreations of the famed Mercedes Renntransporter.

@randyrusk  I like (and have fabricated ) haulers too, but non-race vintage American haulers and, coincidently, just posted some pics on this 1/43 Forum in the Chevy Impala Dealership  topic.  I've yet to scratch-build/fabricate one in 1/43.... but, auh, stay tuned!   😏 🤔 😏

@ed-davis  One of our MAR readers found a nice Lotus Ford F1 car in matching colors for the SPARK version!

Here is a Lotus 72 that would fit right in that Team Lotus hauler. 1/43rd, built by ???

IMG 4688

And the Lotus 49b that proceeded it was important in racing history for it's wings and having colorful advertising, a first, i.e., no more required British Racing Green.    1/18th scale Exoto model shown for the livery and the history. These type of wings were later banned due to their collapse leading to serious accidents in races.

This 1/18th Lotus 72 won't fit in your hauler either but has more description of it's significance in F1 racing. Your hauler would need be painted black LoL in order to match this famous livery, and was if I remember correctly.
