Over the next few weeks I hope to cover each year in the 1960s with models as appropriate.
I will try to stay in chronological order. Members please feel free to add your own models and any discussion points.
Thanks!

The 1960 Formula One Season

The 1960 Formula One season was the 14th season of FIA Formula One motor racing with 10 races.

The last year of the 2.5 litre formula produced repeat victories for Jack Brabham and Cooper, and saw Lotus, Porsche, and BRM campaigning rear-engined cars. Lance Reventlow's Scarabs, like the Aston Martins, were front-engined and outclassed. Stirling Moss' Rob Walker Lotus gave Colin Chapman his first Grand Prix win at Monaco and followed it with a victory in the USA. All other Grands Prix went to Cooper, except for the Italian which was boycotted by the British constructors since the Italians were using Monza's banked circuit.

Jack Brabham won 5 racesin the Cooper (T51 and T53). Stirling Moss won 2 in Rob Walker’s Lotus 18. Bruce McLaren won one in a Cooper T53 and Phil Hill won for the first time in a Ferrari 155. Jim Rathmann won the INDY 500 in its final year as part of Formula 1.

Jack Brabham won the World Championship of Drivers in a Cooper for the second time and Cooper won the Manufacturer’s Championship.

This is great stuff - you bring a different angle to this forum and I really enjoy it - not that I don't enjoy the many other excellent posts.  Great concept, era and models.

Brabham's win at the 1960 Portugal GP put him over the top in the points standings. The Cooper T53 to have is this car by Biante, especially with the engine detail. Sadly, the signature is just a replica printed on the box.

Harv, that is an absolutely gorgeous model of the Cooper T53. I especially like the engine detail. The Jack Brabham signature carries it over the top. Thanks for this great contribution to this 1960 F1 season

 The 1961 Formula One Season

Watkins Glen 61 prog 1

The 1961 Formula One season was the 15th season of FIA Formula One motor racing with 8 races.

The first year of the 1.5-litre formula was dominated by a well-prepared Ferrari team. The 1961 season saw the first Ferrari mid-engined car,- the 156 “Sharknose”, going against team boss Enzo Ferrari's dislike of mid-engined cars.
Phil Hill of Ferrari won his only Drivers's Championship after his teammate and rival Wolfgang von Trips was killed at the Italian Grand Prix, the penultimate race of the season. Phil Hill only won two races in 1961 with Giancarlo Baghetti and Wolfgang von Trips taking the other three Ferrari victories.
Ferrari won its first Formula 1 Manufacturer's Title.

Only Stirling Moss, in an outdated Lotus 18, was able to beat the Ferraris at Monaco and at the Nurburgring German Grand Prix where his skills offset the Ferrari power advantage.
Innes Ireland won a race, the 1961 United States Grand Prix, after Ferrari didn't enter the race following Von Trips’ death.  I was lucky enough to attend this race at Watkins Glen, New York.

Not a fan of the Brumm Sharknoses, but I do have a few Ixo and Quartzo replicas. Here is the Spa winner by Quartzo with a Graham Turner print of the same car, Hill followed by Von Trips. Also a close up of Phil Hill's signature.

Turner 1961 Ferrari 156
Quartzo 99804 Ferrari F1 1961

Ixo made the Monza GP winner that gave Phil Hill the Championship (sadly, Von Trips was killed in an accident that also resulted in the deaths of 15 spectators). (Sorry, no pic).

Corgi Toys made a nice model of the 1961 Ferrari 156 in the 1960s. Quite good for the time.

 Here it is.

@david-green I have that one. It was much better than the Dinky, and infinitely better than the Solido, one of their rare goofs.

The 1962 Formula One season was the 16th season of FIA Formula One motor racing with 9 races.

Ferrari was shut out of wins in 1962. BRM came good with Graham Hill winning the championship with 4 wins, after a season long battle with the revolutionary monocoque Lotus 25 driven by Jim Clark (2 wins)
Dan Gurney gave Porsche their only Grand Prix win at the French Grand Prix, and Cooper won their last race until 1966 at Monaco with Bruce McLaren.
BRM won its first Formula 1 Manufacturers Title.

I was lucky enough in 1962 to spent 11 weeks in Britain and France that Summer on my honeymoon. During that time I went to the British Grand Prix at Aintree and saw Jim Clark win in the #20 Lotus 25 as shown here.

Here are several of the participants that year.

First, Graham Hill in the BRM P57 first in Italian partworks and next Atlas.

Jim Clark used a Lotus 24 at the BARC non-championship event at Aintree that same year.

Others are Spark, Onyx, Italian Ferrari Collection partworks etc with various drivers.

Nothing beats a mustached Graham Hill on the way to victory in the Dutch GP. Thanks to Spark for adding this important detail.
