I wanted to post this earlier-but the power went out for whatever reason. Just came back on about 1/2 hr ago. I have said this before, so forgive me for a repeat. I have a huge collection of photos, both finished and unfinished. From time to time, in addition to the new ones I finish up-I'd like to post some from a while ago. I never tire of looking at model photos, so I hope y'all feel the same way.
I picked this one up on eBay in late 2021, it was in sorry shape. Very dirty, broken wheels. For a distressed model, the price was a little more than I usually pay. My skills are limited as I am not a model builder in any way, but I love bringing a model back from despair and breathing new life into it. The color on this was very unique and just the previous week I had already purchased an Invicta Hardtop in the same color, so the matching pair intrigued me. I had spotted my Brooklin '53 Skylark in the display cabinet and it gave me an idea. The wire wheels would look great on this Invicta convertible. So back to eBay I went, thankfully the '53 Skylark is pretty cheap. Now with the Skylark in hand, I discovered the wire wheels and axles from the Skylark were too wide for the Invicta. Switching the axles didn't work out because the Skylark's wheels wouldn't stay on them. Instead, I filed the frame of the Invicta until I got the assembly to fit. It took a minute; a little bit of black paint and you can't really tell. Now with some deep cleaning, a bit of gluing and a little metal polish, new set of tires & wheels-the Invicta is ready for a night out on the town. I think David H's little people would be pleased.
1959 Buick Invicta Convertible by Western Models in Copper Glow
I am a very big fan of these '59 Buick models from Western/WMCE. The overall look is wonderful, and they capture all the glitz of the 1:1 perfectly. I have 10 of them in various colors and to be honest, always looking for another.

I also am a big fan of these 1959 Buicks. However, I only have one, a white convertible from WMCE. It was one of the first models I purchased from Route 66 Model Car Store.
