This post will continue with the 1955 DeSoto, I had intended to move on to '56 but the arrival yesterday of a pair of gorgeous '56 Fireflites has me delaying it until some photos of these two gems can be taken.
I still have two fabulous '55s to post anyway, so I'll stick around here in '55 land for a bit longer. Now, which one do I post 1st...
OK, ready?
I decided to go with a very nice DeSoto station wagon. As nice as this model is, it is, unfortunately, a bit fictious in nature. In 1955, DeSoto did not offer a station wagon in the Fireflite series. OK, now it is possible that someone, somewhere had one made. Quite frequently the 50s brought forth all sorts of possibilities if the money was right and the need (want) was great enough. Maybe a restored 1:1 was used as a sample which had been made as a Fireflite instead of a Firedome. Or simply, someone goofed. Who knows, but I'll go with whatever story works for me in the moment, the model is that nice.

@karl Yep, there it is! 😎 😎 That site has become a PITA to navigate though, it's almost no longer worth it.
Real or not it is one DeLovely DeSoto DeStation DeWagon!! In a DeLightful color combination!!
What a great looking model. I know some folks demand accuracy in the models they collect and avoid "fantasy" models. We all have our unique motivations for adding to our collections. For me, if a model looks good and is well made, I'll snag it, fantasy or not. I would add this one to my shelves.

It looks great and I like it .... that is all that counts ! It is just about impossible to "prove" a negative beyond all doubt, so one could say this one was hand-made at the factory, but it was nearly immediately destroyed when the car-carrier taking to an exclusive dealer overturned and the wagon was totaled !
I'm with John and Mike. If you like it, buy it.
As a hardcore wagon fan I think this model is absolutely stunning.
If you like it, buy it.
I'm at the other end - "fantasy pieces" are for others; I seek out verifiable accuracy. I rarely ever change anything on 1:1 cars too, I prefer them completely stock. I think what ruined me was watching every kid I knew, while growing up, constantly dink around with their cars, adding stripes, decals, swapping wheels, accessorizing motors, etc., etc.. 😬 😬 😬
@chris, I agree with you on 1:1 cars. I prefer them stock, not so much on my models.
