Goldvarg '56 Mercury Montclair Phaeton

I assume that such type of the body isn't phaeton. This is hatdtop in my opinion.

Convertible version was made in white metal in the original Goldvarg range produced in Argentina. Sadly, in 90s Sergio has never made Hardtop. 

Hardtop was made by SMTS for the Conquest range by Route 66. Would be nice to see these models here.

Wow, these are both magnificent 1/43 1956 replicas from Goldvarg (and 1:1's from Mercury)! I have a 1/18 scale SunStar Platinum diecast in those same blue/blue colors. This car is so attractive and perfect for a scale automobile. Another excellent video look at these two.

In fact correct name of this type of the body is Phaeton Sedan but not simply Phaeton.

Phaeton Sedan= 4- dr Hardtop for the 1956 Mercury Montclair. So, there is a mistake in the video.

@fred-eliseeff, sorry, Mercury calls it a Phaeton. Sergio just named it the way Mercury did. 

@jkuvakas Weird. I checked historical books and they name this type of the body Phaeton Sedan. In fact this is a typical 4- dr Hardtop but Ford'd managers called it Phaeton Sedan. So, this question is needed in more facts. Here we haven't got many books about American cars and I have to find information step by step on different sources. But I'm sure that you have access to the books about history of the cars amd read them with a great pleasure. Would be nice to learn more about all details of the 1956 Montclair line- up.

@fred-eliseeff Hi all. I think Sergio’s model of the Mercury Phaetan is beautifully done and John’s review is outstanding, as usual. I am wondering why we are nit picking Phaetan 4 dr hardtop vs Phaetan sedan. I think we all could agree that most of us have referred to this car as a Mercury Phaetan. I appreciate the research to find the truth but what difference does it make? As John K would say Prace.

....except for the tires, it's a gorgeous model is any color.   I always love to see 4-dr replicas, especially low-production beauties such as this 1956 Mercury.    I don't recall ever seeing a real one.  🤔 🤔 🤔 

I didn't want to be the first but I agree about the tires. If the tires on the '62 Lincoln were on the '56 Mercury and vice versa both would be must haves for me. As they exist I passed on both. Yes I'm a nitpicker......guilty as charged. Does anyone know if they are switchable? I could order both and find out that way but it would be an expensive experiment (that might prove to be a failure).
