I have a 1950 pontiac conv. motor city usa that I would like info on reaserching...
Where can I find reaserch info such as production time frames, number produced, and approx. value? It is a 1:43 1950 pontiac conv. motor city usa car in perfect condition with box and packing. I can not find any info....ty.
The information on production dates and number produced has not been readily available.
Value=market.
Many MOCs had multiple production runs spanning a number of years mostly in the mid to late 90's.
Whatever the case, the production numbers were very low, in
many cases less than a couple hundred total.
MOC # 46, '50 Pontiac 'vert first appeared in Dominion's Quarterly, Oct-Dec, 1994 and last appeared in the Oct-Nov. 1995 issue. As this only applies to one dealer's stock, it at least gives a ballpark range of dates of initial availabilty. Bob was pretty much on top of MOC issues at the time.
Hope this helps,
TG
I also refer to my MOC price lists for information on these cars, but recognize that they are only general guides at best. The MOC '50 Pontiac
TD convertible appears in the Sept. '95 price list in Skylark Blue at $210. In
August 1998 and again in February '99, it's available in Sierra Rust and a new
color (black) for $189 (the price went down!). The hardtop is listed at $10
more.
Finally, in the Nov. '99 MOC Newsletter, it isn't listed as available in stock at
that time.
I was surprised to see that the retail price from MOC actually went down.
Perhaps it was a slow seller, and Alan had to lower the price to move 'em out.
Check Dominion & other seller websites, & ebay completed sales. As can be expected, color affects MV
1950 Pontiac Cnvt Pricing
I bought 5 preowned models from Bob H. all in 1 swoop back in October 1995.
I don't know if they all were from the same collection/collector. Even back then
Bob was a buy-back guy for collections that he had initially sold. The Pontiac
was 1 of 2 that came at the same time and I got it for the asking price of $210
along with # 56, the MtC 47 Ford Sportsman for the full $ 249. Back in the
spring of 1995 I picked up 5 MtC 43rds, # 29,40,42, 45 & 53 all for $ 210 each
while they had sold new at $ 249. $ 249 was the going asking , and sales price
on most of the Motor City Premium line which tripped up to $ 275 late in the
line's life.Now most MtC ru upward of $ 450
Wow - I'm realizing what a great deal Bob gave me at Countryside on a T&C - what a gentleman!
Now, that'd be an awesome..........
book for someone to write! A buyers guide for white metal models. A huge undertaking.......I think!
