I think everyone’s aware that Wayne Moyer’s collection has hit the auction block and there have been some rarely seen models now coming to the market. I’ve bid on a number of them and even won a few. Some that I really wanted, though, sold for waaaay beyond my threshold.
So while I was disappointed to lose, I took comfort in the fact that they sold to someone who really, really wanted them. Take a look at these recent prices on these Packards:
1953 Packard Balboa-X $577
1955 Packard Caribbean $389
1955 Packard Request $510
1952 Packard Pan American $687
Randy, those figures astonish me! Perhaps because I have 3 of the 4 in my Packard section. I knew I should have bought that green Pan American. Now I just have to hope my family doesn't see those values!!!

Models = Miracles in miniature = Holding History in ones hand
Cheers and Happy Collecting,

Impressive. My Packard collecting friend has all these. He will be pleased.
I am not familiar with those red, white, and blue boxes. Who is the manufacturer? The models do look very nice.

David H., I agree with you..I too should have bought the Pan American.
I wouldn't get to worried over these values. As Randy mentioned, this is part of the Wayne Moyer collection. As a result, this auction has drawn a lot of attention. I try to stay away from these because you will never get a good deal. There are quite a few serious collectors following this auction and as a result, the bidding can get out of hand. They know and trust the quality of these cars. The same holds true of the Dick Brown collection. As a result, they are willing to pay extra. If you look at the average sales history of these 4 cars over the past 4 years, you will see that prices have been all over the map but all prices still have remained below the prices above. BE PATIENT and do your research before bidding on high end cars. They are out there.I was able to snag the Minimarque green 1952 Packard Pan Am from an Ebay seller in the Netherlands March 2021 for $112 US in mint condition with the box. I realize that this is not a representative price either but it proves my point. Route 66 was selling a Minimarque 1956 Packard Request about 1 yr ago for $299US in his SuperFridays. As Randy points out:there must be 2 people who both really really wanted it and with high profile auctions there alway will be.
@kenspear, wise word, Ken. There are some folks that will bid on the model based on the provenance of who owned it. This is why celebrity-owned 1:1 cars sell for more at the major auctions. We watched it happen with Dick Brown's collection. Now, it's happening with Wayne's. Good for Wayne's family!

It's not just the Minimarque Packards. Ending about now on the 'bay are a couple of STMS Frazer sedans, and each is over $200. Verrrrrrry interesting!

Is there a link to this auction site? I might want to do some window shopping.

@randyrusk Not entirely true Randy. Illustra acquired the Minimarque name some years ago, and their website (dated 2022) shows some very nice Packard Darrin Convertible Victorias. The website shows the Minimarque and Midlantic trade names are still in use. The site also shows the Packard Request and Pan American as still available!
I was bidding on all of those Packard models, unfortunately they surpassed by top price. I usually don't allow myself to get caught up in the hype.
I decide on a price and bid my limit, if it surpasses that, I bow out.
