After years of searching for the ideal boulevard cruiser to haul my Brooklin speedboat (based on a 1955 Chris-Craft Cobra) I at last bought from a very helpful guy at 'the bay' a Western Models 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. I think the colours, lines and angles are all perfect.
@ed-davis Ed, my memory is very sketchy so I would not like to hazard a guess. But I know Brooklin issued a special Collector’s Club special of BRK39 1953 Oldsmobile Fiesta and Brk 71 American Speedboat in orange 1n 1998 so I imagine the blue version was issued earlier. It was certainly a while ago that I bought it.
Charles, that combination of Plymouth Belvedere Convertible and the Chris-Craft Cobra looks really good and age appropriate. A friend of my parents had a similar Chris-Craft at their cottage on Lake Simcoe here in Ontario in the late 1950s. I enjoyed several trips in it and also behind it on water skis. Fun memories.
@david-green Much as I love Chris-Craft and especially the Cobra, for me the most beautiful of mahogany boats hail from Gravenhurst, Ontario in the form of Tom Greavette's stunning streamliners.
Greavette Boatworks in the 1930s built some fabulous wooden boats that cut through the water seemingly without effort. I remember Tom Greavette mainly for his racing boats, Miss Canada IV hitting a top speed of 200mph.
I’ve seen a few of his boats preserved but never actually got to sit in one. He did a lot of custom work. Many did not survive the war and production was way down due to finances post war.
I think you guys are most fortunate to be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Thousand Island lakes and surrounding districts: to see and enjoy these beautiful boats. We of course have Riva and the Amalfi coastline, but they're not the same.

@karl I have seen this Riva boat but is it possible to buy it - or is it made as a corporate gift for Riva Yacht ? I believe Brooklin don't sell anything through their website - very helpful though they are - and elsewhere, I've never seen this model for sale. Answers from anyone much appreciated, as ever.
