These models were all very hard to find. I did not purchase them when they were new and available, so the hunt was on.
My 2 favorite are the 426 Hemi stuffed Monteverdi Hai 450 SS and the AMC AMX/3, but I do like them all.
The AMC AMX/3 was a project by AMC to directly compete with the Pantera (also pictured here) but the project was halted after only 6 cars were built, but some not fully assembled.
Click on images for the best clarity.
Here are pictures of the interior of the Monteverdi Hai, showing how massive that 426 Hemi looked sitting in between the driver and passenger seats.
I don't know of any other car that the doghouse of the bigblock motor is where an armrest should be!
I would love to own this car.
Nice post and three wonderful cars Ben. I like the red theme here. I remember this Winter reading about a barn find in Northern Michigan of a completed AMX/3. What a find!

Did you not find one of them wonderful? there are 4 cars pictured....They are all red, so it is easy to miss one!
Not only were they very hard to find, but double hard to find all in red.
You need a BMW M1.
It’s one of my favorite designs.

That was one of the prototypes owned by the son of the original AMC head engineer on the project.

I understand that there are many more mid engine cars.....these are just my favorites.
I wish a resin crafter would do this Ferrari though.... Ferrari 365 Berlinetta with centered drivers seat.
The Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale was a concept sports car designed and produced by Pininfarina and Ferrari in 1966. It featured a mid-engined layout of a donor racing car chassis and three-seat arrangement with a central driving position, as later popularised on McLaren F1.
Red seems to be the color of the day, Ben. These mid-engine cars are really beyond my field, but the model I'm building right now just may qualify. You will know, I'm sure. It's a Ford GT 40, a cleaned-up version of the 1966 Shelby-prepared one driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant at Sebring, holding the lead at Sebring until a cooling system problem forced them out in the 17th hour. Racing isn't a primary interest for me, but this pre-painted Testors model caught my eye. When and if. . . , I'll post the results here.
Yep. Missed the Pantera for some reason when I jumped to the engines. Still like them all in red even though I could not count.

I can't wait to see it finished David....your model building is very good.
I have a few different GT-40's and Shelby Cobras and Cobra Coupes.
I'll have to take some pics and post them.
That 'Tre Posti' 365P is a very cool car. I saw it at the High Museum in Atlanta...
Ferrari borrowed some cues from this car that made it on to the design of the 308 and the Dino.
Ben you have an amazing collection and wonderful pictures.
I've always liked the de Tomaso Mangusta.
