@charles-rockett

Carousel1 made five types of World War 2 aircraft models, which were the P-36, P-40, F4F Wildcat, BF-109, and FW-190D. Each was made in 3 or 4 color schemes.  I have one of each, except the P-40, and I have two of them.  My other P-40 represents the plane flown by George Welch during the Pearl Harbor attack.  The three American Carousel1 planes were primarily offered in Pacific war colors schemes and pre-war colors.  However, the third P-40 has RAF markings and a desert color scheme for North Africa.  Today, Carousel1 planes are mostly available from sources, such as EBAY.  The only dealer I know, who still has some new planes is Aikens Airplanes in Tennessee.  The planes originally were priced at $69.95. Used models are often priced at that amount, with new ones about 2x that amount.

If you are looking for World War 2 diecast planes with a European war focus, I suggest you look at models from Hobbymaster.  In 1/48 scale you can get the P-47, P-51, Spitfire, Hurricane, BF-109, and FW-190.  Many color schemes for each have been produced and are currently available.

My dealer recommendation is Aikens Airplanes.  I purchased many models from them.  They have large selection and good customer service.

You are welcome. I know this forum is intended for cars, trucks, and other land vehicles, but I still enjoy talking about diecast airplanes.

Do you remember the most expensive ones you saw?

$400 for Fokker tri-planes,  German BF-109e for $260 - but does not mean they will sell for that!

The $400 for the tri-plane is surprising. I do not remember original price for that one, but it would be less than $100. The BF-109e originally sold for $69.95. I have one, and it is well detailed and painted. If someone wants the specific color scheme for a model in new or mint condition, it might sell for that amount or near it. Thanks for the two prices.

@ed-davis When I searched I didn't see any Carousel 1 under $150.

I have seen a few above $150, but they were usually listed as new. After writing the first sentence of this reply, I did a search in eBay. I saw the Fokker triplane for $385.

@ed-davis It seems you are sitting on a gold mine : ))  and rightly so, for appreciating the beauty of these models at the time.
