These two are absolutely stunning and make a handsome pair. But I've never come across the name A.M. Models. Do they go by any other name? Has anyone any information on this company? Many thanks for the great picture.
@charles-rockett I think that was an abbreviation for American Models. I wonder how prices for the old MOC/American '62 Impalas will fare when Sergio's '62 SS coupe becomes available?
@mg-harv Hi Harv', thank-you for this. Being the pedant I am, it didn't occur to me! Coupled with the fact that I hardly ever come across the name American Motors and think I have only one in a collection of possibly 350 / 400 models.
I shall perhaps heed what I take to be advice, not to buy one until Sergio's model is well and truly out. If indeed I ever saw one for sale; in possibly twenty years of serious model hunting, Ken's is the first example I've seen.
I haven't seen the '62 convertible in white before. I've seen red and blue. The red had a bit more blackwash to the grille which helped a lot.

The color of the Impala is a light yellow. My camera didn't capture the color properly. Yes, it is by American Models. Sorry for using the abbreviation. I have only seen Sergio's 1962 Impala offered as a 2 dt htp. I am not aware of a convertible being offered.
@kenspear Please do not apologise for using the abbreviation on my account, as everyone knew exactly what you wrote - apart from me and it's not a problem for me to ask. I would, though, like to know what outlets sell these models. I buy a lot of white metal models from the USA and never see American Models on e-bay, with the one exception of their '58 Oldsmobile of which I've seen two. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Charles, I was also confused. However, when I went to eBay and checked on Motor City American Models, I found two so listed: a Buick and an Oldsmobile (box has AM-4 on it). Both looked good and on the higher end of the financial scale. Perhaps most listers of these American Models just use the Motor City label. Beautiful models either way!
American Models, USA Models, Design Studio and Motor City Usa were all issues released by the same company. Motor City USA were usually the most detailed and most expensive followed by Design Studio and then American and USA Models. Some models were issued under multiple brands(eg. 1955 Mercury was issued under both Motor City Usa and Design Studio) while others were exclusive to only one brand. These models have not been issued for a number of years and therefore are available on the secondary market or from dealers who also sell used models.Route 66 is one dealer that comes to mind. David is correct regarding Ebay listers. The majority list them as Motor City Usa while they are in fact American,USA or Design Studio models. You can usually tell from the picture of the box, if one is included.
Thanks, guys this does clarify matters. I have a few of the Motor City, Design Studio and USA Models, plus the one American Models and of course the boxes are all the same, save the printed label. But some of these models you simply never see. The yellow with green glass Mercury Sun Valley - the 1942 Town And Country, (not that I could ever afford that) , and now Ken's bloody '62 Chevrolet to keep me awake, worrying about! I have bought one or two items from Buz at route '66 but have never seen these.
