Handbuilt in mainly 1:43 scale, these pewter models were created by Bob Brennan in Westborough, Massachusetts called variously MVM (Miniature Vehicle Manufacturing) and MTI (Miniature Toys Inc.) He was active in the 1970-80s.
His models were all handbuilt from pewter or white metal and were sold in both painted and unpainted pewter versions. He sold through mail order or by building models on commission , these usually in white metal for companies such as Brooklin and Minimarque.
Very nice indeed! I haven't heard of this model before.
These look interesting, even though I'm not sure of their scale. I found several, including the Cord, on eBay under "Nostalgic Miniatures," Toys & Hobbies. There was a broad range of prices.
I have the Buick Skylark in red and the Lasalle coupe as shown.
David Green, small world indeed! Your post brings back memories! From 1972-76 we lived in Westborough, Massachusetts. It’s a beautiful New England town. Just off the Circle in the center of town was this building the lower level of which served as a warehouse for the mail order business of MTI operated by a guy named Bob Brennan. I was told about the place by a friend in town who knew I was interested in miniature cars. He had somehow received a brochure from MTI which he gave to me. I went over to the place and walked in. I recall Bob’s voice from behind a counter, “Sorry, we’re just mail order.” Before my eyes were rows and rows of shelves of model cars mostly 1:43. I introduced myself as a local resident. By good fortune he let me stay and look.
It was there that I saw my first Brooklin, BRK4, the Model A Ford Tudor. But it was too expensive at $35.00. I was a young Episcopal priest with a wife and four young sons to feed. Bob and I struck up a conversation and somehow I gained permission to return and Bob and I became friends. I could afford an occasional Schuco at $10.00 a copy or a Polistil at $8.00. I once asked him if he was acquainted with Wiking’s 1:40 scale VW promotional models that were available at local VW dealerships. He was interested and we went over to Roy Rioux VW and he ordered a carton of the darn things to sell giving me several.
As we got to know each other I became aware of his Nostalgic Miniatures series of models. He was working on a Divco milk truck and as I had an interest in Divcos, I was able to help a bit with details. Then he decided to do a series of VW Beetles over the years. Could I help him with some of the detail changes over the years? This was long before the internet where pictures would be readily available. I remember drawing pictures with narrrative about various changes in the evolution of the Beetle. Then, I received a call to move to a new parish in Winchester, Virginia and we left Westborough. Several years later as we passed through Westborough I stopped by but Bob Brennon and his MTI business were gone. I’ve often wondered what became of him.

Hi David,
How lucky you are to have that first person encounter and activities with Bob Brennon. Thank you for sharing them with us on The Diecast Zone.
I had similar contact with John Hall of Brooklin and it had a major effect on my collecting and interests. I wonder what did ultimately happen to Bob and his business.
Did those VWs you both were involved with ever get into circulation?
No. they never did.
