New Automodello in 1/43rd scale
I just received this Automodello 1970-71 Lincoln Continental MK III hardtop. It is a Tribute Edition in Silver-Blue, with a Black vinyl top. This is my 6th Automodello model, and I have been very satisfied with the quality.
I remember when this Lincoln came out in mid 1968, I was really impressed with it, and thought the styling was very classic in nature. It just had a classic stance, especially next to one of the original Continentals, which is one of my favorites. Someone had one at the National Lincoln Continental Owners Club meet in Penna. that year, The 1940 coupe was parked next to it. Great stuff.

It is a beautiful model. I am very happy with mine too, it came last week.

(PICS) It appears to me the trunk lid slopes too much toward the bumper. The 1:1 seems to have had a little more bend in the lid, more horizontal than sloping. IMHO.

I would have preferred Pick Your Feet in Poughkeepsie Brown myself.
With French license plates of course.

Agreed. I've waited years for a MKIII but IMHO some details aren't quite there.
Models have come a long way, but so have our expectations at this price point.
To my eye the shape of the windows is somehow too soft, and other details aren't as crisp as I'd expect from Automodello as with their great Avanti. But I've wanted this subject for years and I'll eventually buy the basic edition even though it just misses that 'pop' as a miniature 1:1 for me.

Automodello in 1/43rd
I've admired this car ever since it was introduced in mid 1968. I wasn't going to spend the money for a 1/24th scale model, but unexpectedly it showed up in 1/43rd. It is close enough to pass my test of accuracy and authenticity, because nothing wrong is jumping out at me. I like it. The price was not too bad. Color combination is good, typical for a car in the luxurious field.

Just received mine in silver and I am very pleased with the overall look and quality of the model. I spent a large portion of my life working on cars and involved with an auto dealership in sales and management. I can tell you that the real cars don't come through perfectly either. I wish people would remember that these are man-made and it is impossible to make them 100% perfect. Over the years, I have seen so many mistakes on numerous models from every manufacturer at every price point that forum members have raved about. But I always thought it was better to let people just enjoy the model they chose to purchase.

You know, you don't censor anything here (1:43 related) , but...
many on this forum make it clear that opinions of a negative nature shouldn't be here. I don't care for that. If you don't agree with my or any other opinion, why not let it rest there?
Fact is, many of these models are awful and while I don't say that, I think it is equally irresponsible to let these manufacturers think all is good when easily found reference material indicate otherwise.
Been on this forum since 1999 but you folks make it hard to stay here. I spend more time on the French forum.
