I have this one as well. I love those Devons and Dorsets.
Great! My older brother collected Dinkys and he was convinced they were the finest popular models anywhere. Your Austin makes me agree.
I always found that the appearance of these 40 series Dinky Toys was very accurate unlike their Corgi counterparts of the same time. I too have this Devon, along with the other 40 series, all of which survived from those early days. Unfortunately all are either playworn, or have been repainted.

You're right Mike - doubly so! Devon was always my favourite along with the Minx of course

Well kept
David,
You must have been a gentle child. I also have my copy of this model from the early 50's. My Austin is well scarred and paint chipped from hours of outside play along mini fabricated dirt roads in the back yard.

When I think of Austins, the Devon always comes to mind. My favorite
Austin. What a beautiful example you have David.
A also have this green Devon AND the box
I was a real Dinky Toy collector as I saved all the boxes and treated the toys with great care all of which I still have on display. I recently snagged a Pathfinder Devon for well under market to show the advance in these replicas over 60 years. How many still have their Dinky Toy Club certificate and pin? Mine's dated September 1957.

Here's what happened to way too many Dorsets in the USA
These early two door versions were prime material for massive engine transplants and use as dragsters. Sad, as few remain as stock.

Remember the blue and cherry red Minx? Wild colors at times.
