This 1/43 model is part of Yat Ming's firetruck series, released in both 1/24 and 1/43 scale. The very nicely done 1/43 replica here is a Mercedes-Benz TLF-50 firetruck from 1950.

Lol, Karl ! Back then , it probably was known as, "The Western (or perhaps U.S.) Zone of Germany" to distinguish it from the Soviet/Eastern Zone. Many older Schuco toys/replicas also said "The U.S. Zone of Germany" like this very old race car my Dad got for me.

What a great old Schuco!  The US Zone ended in 1949 with the establishment of West Germany, but I wonder if Schuco and other toy companies did not change over their tooling/printing until later in the 1950s...

That's a good point, Karl. Toy companies like Schuco did a good business here in the U.S. and I had a number of great Schuco toys when I was a a kid that my Dad probably got at a store in NYC when he was there on business.

Here is another old Schuco car that I got as a kid. It has some resemblance to an old Frazer automobile and it certainly was a "miracle" car that would not go off of a tabletop !

That Mirakocar is really great!  The 'fifth-wheel' is a great idea!   I have both versions that Tekno copied (with or without Schuco's permission).

Very interesting article, Karl ! I still have my original "miracle' Schuco and I think I also originally had (and may still have somewhere) a red version, too, perhaps.
