I think the Chevy is salmon pink - and that looks good.

I can't recall if that color was called Salmon or Coral but it was definitely a hallmark color for the year. And most of us did not appreciate it when it was new and stunning I guess. But something alerted me and I ask any of you who remember. The color on those wheels was black when the car was ordered with full wheel covers but only body colored when the little small hub caps came on them. Or am I only remembering the Buick and Oldsmobile divisions? But the color just looks wrong on a full wheel cover car. Correct me if I'm wrong but I sold those cars. But starting in the 60's.

It's hard to make a 57 Chevy look bad...

but I think they succeeded.

I believe that the colors you're thinking of, Don, were Canyon Coral and Dusk Pearl. There was no color actually named Salmon. I think the color on the Brooklin model shown is a lighter shade of Canyon Coral, but it's also similar to Dusk Pearl. Identical to neither, similar to both. Chevy didn't offer a color we'd think of as actually pink, unlike some other makes in the '50s.

As for the wheels, my deluxe Chevy brochure shows the wheels in body color behind the full wheel covers. And as you noted, the small dog-dish hubcaps were on body-colored wheels as well. Catalog illustrations are notorious for not always being totally accurate, but every Bel Air shown in the brochure, in various colors, has the wheels painted in the body color behind the full wheel cover. I distinctly remember silver-gray and turquoise wheels on Bel Airs, because my neighbors back in the late '50s had Bel Airs in those colors and the wheels matched the car.

The one I'm looking forward to is the forthcoming Adobe Beige over Sierra Gold Sport Sedan. That one is going to be gorgeous, as was the 1:1.

The whole point of the Pink Collection is exactly that...

a random collection of previously available models in pink. The first few were the idea of the ladies in the BRK factory and were made for fun to celebrate International Women's Year. Like Topsy the range has just grown. They won't appeal to everyone although it seems they are appealing to a significant number of collectors which has been a surprise. Some full size versions will have been available in certain shades of pink, others not, but most collectors will know that. There's also no obligation to buy any!

The Armstrong has turned out well Mike. Californian next!...

Tim phoned me yesterday to check on it, and the Bristol. No word on the Consul yet though...you may be ahead of me here.
