I have been searching for the 'teens Stutz Bearcat in the 1:43 scale, having only the early 1950's Revell Highway Pioneers model (a larger scale). I saw a mention on the web of a good -looking 1913 Bearcat made from a brass kit by the Raymac Model Co. There was no date on the picture. Maybe this is two questions: the existence of Raymac Model Co. and any other 1:43 Bearcat. Anybody?

@frank Thanks for responding, Frank. Yes, I saw the same picture. That's all if know other than the pictures I posted.

I was on the same quest a few years ago. I bought one of these kits on eBay (they do appear occasionally), & put it together. It was a bit challenging to keep it all straight and true (think of a frame machine at a body shop). But the result is very nice. Lots of details.
Frank, Again, thanks for the response. I'm tempted by the Danbury Bearcat, but I've had mixed results trying to paint these. I guess I could just get another Mercer of the era, since most of us can't tell them apart without a very close examination. As of now, I have started work on a replacement Revell Bearcat from 1952 Highway Pioneers. It's fun!
Thanks, John. I check Hobby DB pretty often and see one of my photos there every now and then. It's a prime source, but not this time.

(later) Well, I found some more information. A Raymac Bearcat kit sold on eBay this past February, listed under "completed sales" as
RAYMAC MODEL COMPANY KIT, BRASS 1/43 1914 STUTZ BEARCAT. It sold on 4 bids for $128.05 (Canadian 155.63, and it sold to Canada). The pictures show very detailed parts but no figures were illustrated. It was listed as coming from a private collection/estate. Well, that settles the matter of scale, anyhow.
David - I had one of these kits several decades ago. It was beautifully cast, but I went through a kit purge 15-20 years ago and sold it - but for far less than $128. I seem to recall it wasn't cheap to begin with, perhaps $50?
David - I try to keep up with your posts about your current models so that's how they end up on hobbyDB! You gave me permission many moons ago to post your photos! You always have interesting and uncommon stuff!!
Karl, your use of my poor photography is most welcome. You make me look almost good! And your site is a ready source of good information that keeps getting better. Please accept my apology if I inadvertently sounded critical. David
