Motor Trend has a great article looking back on the seventies and the advent of the bordello interior. Click here.

Good luck if you spill your grape soda on one of those seats!
BTW, the rumor that Ricardo Montalban made up the phrase "Fine Corinthian Leather" on the spot is apparently not true. Chrysler's marketing team, Bozell, was using the term a year prior to Kahn's famous commercial. Click here, and Here.

This is a great example of just how impactful and long lasting the effect of advertising can be. It's amazing really; every time I see a now vintage Cordoba drive by to this day I automatically think of Corinthian leather. Every time I see an old image of the late Ricardo Montalban I immediately think of his Cordoba ads and how he pronounced the word Cordoba.............not Fantasy Island. Lol.
There is a certain rhythmic tempo when pronouncing Ricardo Montalban and Corinthian Leather together which makes it endearing.
Sorry, folks. this is an interesting topic but I should have posted it in the Lounge.
