SAIS was established in 1991 in Russia in Tula by father and son- Mikhail and Alexander Isakov. The name SAIS was an idea of Mikhail who decided to name a company in honor of his son. SAIS means SA- Sacha, a variation of Alexander, IS - Isakov.
SAIS focused on the soviet trucks and WW2 vehicles. Such models of the company as Dodge WC, Studebaker US 6 and Willys were well- known among collectors of the Europe and USA during 90s, before Victoria launched its range.
Unfortunately, Mikhail passed away in 2010 and Alexander continued alone introducing new variations snd modifying current range. Since 2018 no news about this workshop.
In my collection I have very nice Willys. This is almost white metal model equipped with rubber tyres. A tilt is plastic and looks rather reslistic. Baseplate has good level of detsils- main transmission parts are modeled.
Saw this one in a Moscow market back in 2006. Wish that I had bought it. I picked up other Soviet models but was limited in my packing. Thanks for this reminder Fred.
Looks like a nice model. I did not know about that company.
