I have always liked the 1950 Buick Sedanets. These have the split windshields so I guess they're Model 46D Specials with the deluxe trim package. Beautiful models.

And here is one additional 1950 Buick Sedanet, a four door base line car I created from a Kagar transkit for a Solido done decades ago

1950 Buick 4dr fastback

An awesome collection Ben.  Those toothy '50 Buicks really stand out!

My favorites are the Woodies and the 'toothy grinned' Buicks.

Great line-up. Some folks bad mouth the '50 Buick with terms like bucktooth and ungainly. I am not among them.

Surprisingly, the 1:1 1950 Buicks are cheap to purchase.

For some reason, they are not in high demand.

My next house purchase will have a big garage or barn, and I plan on buying one, but it has to be a fastback.

@jmullinax I love the 1950 Buicks for their uniqueness, especially the Sedanettes.

The grille treatment of the '50 Buick was a one year only feature, which makes me wonder if it was too over the top for new car buyers at the time.  I know that for many years I thought it was rather odd but in recent years I have come to like it very much for its originality.  Compared to Buicks of its shoulder years I don't see the '50 at many car shows or on the road.  This makes me wonder if as many were sold originally or whether it was not a car that people elected to save and restore over the years.

I have long wished one of the high end resin manufacturers would produce a '50 Buick. You've probably hit dead on why it hasn't happened.

My dad owned one that was less than 5 years old at the time, so before 1955. He said that each vertical bar in the grill had a separate part number (even the ones on either side that were the same height), and that made it a nightmare for anyone trying to order the parts to repair the grill, and was even expensive for the dealerships to keep them in stock.

My dad said that is why it was a one year only grill.

Although I have my beautiful Conquest 1950 Buicks, I would love to get one in high quality resin.

@ben-lampson when I restored my 1949 Buick Riviera 25 years ago, I bought all the original GM parts books I could find for references and there was one exclusively for 1949-50 body parts and trim.

All were illustrated and real treasure troves the dealerships had to rely to order replacement parts. These books were very big with very thick paper stock that are certainly hard to find now. I remember very well the listing for 1950 of the individual bars and hardware needed for this toothy grille.

I also wish we could see in the future a better rendering of a 1950 Buick made from resin and of course better than Solido did. Conquest/Madison is not a bad model but every time I look at the front grille, the pods holding the parking lights are too low on the bumper to look right.

I have the Cream Special Sedanet that I further detailed for more accuracy.

@nickies The '49 Riviera is a stunningly beautiful car IMHO.  Did you keep any pics of it Richard?

@ben-lampson Interesting info. Ben. Years ago my wife was rear ended in her 78 Chrysler Lebaron Town and Country station wagon. The trash truck that hit her with such force that it bent the car and none of the four doors would open. When I spoke with the adjuster he told me the car was totaled, he told me that the tail lights alone were over $860 and that was back in 1990.
