@jack-dodds I find things like this are happening more frequently with the passing of time. I don't think we are prepared for this when we're young because we think we will live forever. Sorry about your friend.
@bob-jackman Thanks Bob. I guess the message in this is obvious; enjoy each day and focus on the positives as there are many if you look for them.
"...when we're young because we think we will live forever."
That's a fact Bob. You'll recall I recently lost my best friend of 47 years, and sadly, Jack will soon lose his friend of 47 years. Decades ago, when we were young, I could've never (nor did I ever ) even contemplate such an occurrence. As another close & dear friend - Marlowe Johnson - reminded me, "Death is final."
Simple yet profound words.... and of course, very sad.
Again, I extend my deepest regards to you Jack.

That IS the message. Just realized why you were absent. My sincere condolences for your dear friend's plight.
As humans, I'm not sure which is worse. To die at a premature age, leaving loved ones behind to grieve us or to outlive them and see our beloved relatives and friends pass before our time and eyes.
As we grow older, the more 'people' we lose. It's the nature of man, the way of the world. As you and I know so painfully well, it's the loss of a son or daughter that doesn't pass the normal or natural test.
As none of them, who we once treasure, would ever want us to unduly grieve for them, we try to associate all happy memories with them and shun the sorrow.
Prayers for your good friend Pal.

I'm not certain either... but outliving your friends appears to be worse. 😔 😔
