The collaboration between Jack Griffith, Trevor Wilkinson (TVR) and Frank Reisner (Intermecannica) to produced those beautiful GT cars came to a crashing end with the advent of the US governments sweeping safety and efficiency standards of 1968. Griffith's last project with Intermecannica was the Griffith series 600. For this GT coupe, Griffith went the Chrysler for their 273 cid Plymouth Commando V8 and their 3 speed TorqueFlite or 4 speed. After producing somewhere between 6 and 10 of these cars under the Griffith name plate, he went bankrupt and sold the rights to Steve Weidler who built 33 as the Omega GT and then sold the Omega name to GM. With the 273 V8, they could have met the emissions requirements but not the safety standards especially with the 5 mph crash bumper demands. Well, even though Griffith didn't survive, TVR and Intermecannica had the resources to rebound and thrive until today. For Intermecannica, The 600's all steel body designed by Reisner Franco Scaglione became the "Italia" with engineering input by Mark Donohue.
Model by Automodello:
A very sharp model, it looks awesome in this color. I was aware of this one at least, although I never got one.

Give yourself a star! I wasn't..... 😯 Rich's scale collection of low-volume, obscure 1:1 vehicles continues to amaze me.
@chris It's all about the stories of these automotive entrepreneurs and their visions.
Great read Rich, AND a beautiful model.💯
@rich-sufficool Yes indeed! You do seem to have a penchant for those who ventured out and tried to make it on their own. I think in your past life you were somewhere in Detroit or Indiana in the early 20 century, inside your machine shop working the bugs out of the 1920 Sufficool Sportster Model S.
Here's my grandpappy with the Model S. It's now in the Petersen Museum in barn find condition.
This one looks quite similar to the Lotus Elite but packs more of a punch.
@rich-sufficool I guess Dentistry wasn't as lucrative then as it is today. 😏 😉
