The five car series is now just over sixty years old.  However, collectors are only now starting to realize that they are pretty good models, and prices seem to be headed up. They were not built to scale but are generally close to 1/43.  If these interest you, just remember that condition is the key.  In their original packaging, never opened, these individually may sometimes be found the price of a popular Solido or other low end 1/43 scale model.  In played with condition, prices should be only a relatively small percentage of that.

Mine are not MIP, but in G or VG condition.  These are interesting but not really accurate models.  They were designed to be "played with."  But they make an interesting little group on a display shelf.

My parents bought me this set from Sears, about the time it came out. Not being the same quality as Dinky, they received rougher play (ie, outdoors) and did not fare all that well. Not sure I'd want them back though.

Thanks David. I still have the Model T and the Cadillac but not as pristine as yours. Nice to see all the Tootsietoys.

Fine look at these classic Tootsietoys. I still have the 1907 Stanley Steamer and the 1919 Stutz Bearcat.
