Searching for the 1909 Cadillac, I found this pair of Danbury Mint pewter models at an attractive price and bought both. Then I followed the advice of member John Barry and ordered some BSI Un-Clear to, hopefully, make it possible to take a pewter model back to its components stage for better repainting.
The second model is a 1924 Vauxhall, an English car that I associate with GM imports of the 1950's. It looks interesting, but I'm going to have to do a little research there. Whee!
The bent windshield on the Cadillac is not unexpected. Pewter is fairly soft and can be brought back to shape. I think my pewter projects are growing!
(just minutes later) My computer makes research easy! Here's a quick shot of the Vauxhall in 1:1 condition:
Looks like a good possibility for another project.
Thanks, Albert. I've been looking up 1:1 pictures for inspiration. Yours will be added to the list!
@lloyd-mecca, those are beautiful. Did you do the detail?

I agree with you, John. Lloyd, how did you get that great out-lining of black on white?
@d-m-holcombe My question as well. I have not been that successful on my Danbury painting efforts.

Thx, guys....
I don't have the patience for much detail work, so I cheated and used Pactra Trim Tape, as shown. Available in 10 colors, it is 72" long and has 8 widths on the roll.
@lloyd-mecca Thanks, great tip, I am going to have to look into this.
