Fine review of these two Hot Wheels beauties, John. I am glad to see them in the 1/43 market and also that they are carried in stores like Target. That grey color seems quite popular and I have seen a similar hue of some other 1:1 automobiles.

@mikedetorrice, thanks. You're right about the color. It's showing up on a lot of SUV and some high-end sedans.

They are certainly targeting a particular audience. I don't think the older folks like us will be big fans of this collection.

@mikedetorrice You are right about the color trend. They are now popular from Fords through the most expensive BMWs. By analogy, it remembers me of the fancy 2 tone colors trends of limited editions Cadillacs and Buicks of the late 70's. Anybody remember the 1980 Buick Regal Somerset in navy blue and tan with matching interior? I mostly bought one at the time.

Those were certainly popular colors and combinations back then ! Perhaps it was something consumers felt they could still make a statement with,, even if many others were doing the same thing. Now days people may see a color on an automobile and decide that happens to be just what they want.

Back in the day, Chrysler Corp/Stellantis/FCA US, LLC  supposedly thought about offering the vibrant purple color, "Statutory Grape". Then their legals department allegedly said, "Ummm, no, that's not necessarily a very good idea or/people may not have a sense of humor or/ "are you crazy ?!?" Smile Roll Silly

@mikedetorrice In fact, the 1980 Buick Regal Somerset was a Limited Edition package. The closest we have of GM extravaganza is the Stamp 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Custom in tan and brown. I have it but don't have a picture on hand to post.

I would give them credit for at least offering alternate, low-production colors. It was something that one still felt one could still make a statement with, even when engines and such options were being restricted and reduced.

Nice presentation John. I wish we had Target in Canada. I'll check on-line.

The first 2 are still there, but not the newest 2.  If you want 'em and can't get them online, let me know!   I'll be happy to order them from target.com for you!

@karl

Hi Karl,

Thank you for the offer. Problem is the very high cost of shipping from the USA to Canada, often more than the actual cost of the item shipped. My best bet is likely on line.
