My thought is this is a mild custom, lowered with a slightly chopped top so assume the door handles were shaved…..

Larry, Cadillac DID make a door-handle-less convertible in 1953. LOL, here is the dreamcar Cadillac LeMans at the 1953 Chicago Auto Show !

Yeah, as long as the key is on your person the door automatically unlocks and opens for your 'grande entrez vous'...lol.
And just pass the 'tip' of your wingtips under the rear bumper and the trunk will open !

I've had several of those Vitesse models over the years, and they all came with door handles on a plastic tree taped under the display case.

@lloyd-mecca Quite right Lloyd, the old Portuguese issues. I think when this got reissued by Sunstar in China they forgot about those, or lost the little chromed plastic tree mold.
