Wayne Moyer

It is with sadness that I share this news: Wayne Moyer passed away earlier this afternoon after a battle with esophageal cancer. Please remember Wayne and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He was such a fixture in our hobby, we will surely miss his contributions and his friendship. During our last conversation we were discussing how much the hobby meant to us, and he pointed out that he always felt that he received more from it than he gave. More relationships, more friendships, more lifelong memories he cherished. Godspeed Wayne.
I'm sure all will miss Wayne's contributions to this Forum and the articles he wrote for various publications over the decades. One in articular detailed his build of the Raymac brass Stutz Bearcat, a beautiful build. I remember him as far back as the old Traders Horn from the late 1970s, and enjoyed seeing the complete cars he would bring to the resurrected 43rd meet in Chicago. In 2012 he even began selling revised "Code 3" Brooklins.
I have not been able to locate an obituary but will keep trying.

Sad to hear of Wayne's passing. Wayne probably did more for our hobby than any other person I can think of. Always enjoyed talking with him at the various shows, as well as reading his always informative magazine articles. A great builder, he will be greatly missed by our hobby. RIP Wayne.

Very sorry to hear of his passing. That's a brutal type of cancer to have and my heart goes out to his family. Lost my kid brother to the same cancer a few years ago so I know what he and his family went through. Will be saying a prayer for them.

Wayne was one of the best things about this hobby and his absence really hurts me a lot. When we were just starting Strictly 43rd, Wayne was a great boost and always mentioned our show in any article he wrote as a preface to it and a late report of the experience. He even helped me choose the name "Strictly" too. Wayne was not just a collector, but a builder too and often entered one of our model contests and placed very well. But 15 years was as long as we could keep the show so exclusive, and yet, after it became absorbed into an all scale show I am thrilled many of you kept the scale represented.

Sad day
Wayne's reviews were the best, most perceptive, most precise things ever written about scale model cars.
It's hard to believe there will be no more.
A finer human being you could not find either. So generous with his time, and a friend to all.
His passing is a huge loss for this hobby of ours.

Wayne helped inform our hobby immeasurably. His thoughtful reviews of my scribblings and photos encouraged me as a new author and perhaps helped my books find a larger audience. On more than one occasion I called upon his knowledge of our hobby's history to complete sections about builders who would have remained distant memories, but were now part of recorded posterity. He never disappointed.
A valued contributor to the aeronautical field and a pilot, I am certain that he is soaring above us as we remember him. Godspeed, Wayne Moyer.
