EARLY MATCHBOX (Moko/Lesney/Matchbox)

59-A, Ford 5cvt Thames Van,  1/64 scale. Introduced 1958, discontinued 1962.

The Thames 5cwt Van was produced by Ford but marketed as a Thames. Matchbox incorrectly used the name Ford.

There are two colour versions, the first Pale Green, the second Kelly Green. Singer decals are on the lower door and the van side.

Add this one to the list  too.....    I have no recollection of this particular MB car.  Loads of charm though.

I had these two colors but they were stolen.  I am on the hunt for them again.  Another one of my favorites from childhood.

59-B, 1961 Ford Fairlane Fire Chief's Car,  1/80 scale. Introduced 1963, discontinued 1965.

This one is red with white inter and Fire Chief on the hood and sides and painted black base.

. Plastic wheels were first grey then changed to black. It has a white dome light.

Love it!

59-C, 1965 Ford Galaxie Fire Chief's Car,  1/73 scale. Introduced 1966, discontinued 1970.

1966-69 Red (sometimes darker) with blue dome light (red on very first few). Unpainted base with black wheels. Fire chief logo on the doors and hood, ivory interior and clear windows.

!970 Change to Speedwheels but all else the same.

One of my all-time-favorites!  When I assembled my (very small) MB collection years ago.... this model was one of the first I set out to acquire.  I have two now; as a kid, I think I had 8 or 9. Fond memories indeed! 😀 😀 😀 

60-A, Morris J2 Pickup Truck,  1/75 scale. Introduced 1958, discontinued 1965.

Blue with Builders Supply Co. decal. No glass in windows. Silver grey wheels, then silver and finally black plastic wheels.

Another favorite from childhood.

One I never saw as a kid.

First time I saw it.

60-B, Site Hut Truck,  1/92 scale. Introduced 1966, discontinued 1970.

Blue truck with blue tint windows Chrome plastic base plate. Yellow hut with green roof. Just sits on truck and easily removed, often missing.

Black plastic wheels changing to Speedwheels in 1970.

Stil amazed at just how many vintage Matchbox cars I've never seen.....including this one.
