Here is another M2 model, a 1959 Chevrolet Apache pick-up truck.  Like other 1/64 scale M2 models it has opening hood and doors.

It looks great ! It is a superb Chevrolet Apache from them in this scale. The color is a knockout, too !

I do not know how familiar you are with 1/64 diecast, since I usually see your posts in the 1/43 scale forum. By the end of the 1990’s, 1/64 scale cars were being made with good detail and reasonable price. This specific truck is dated on the chassis 2012. I do not remember price, but it would be less than $10.

@ed-davis Thanks Ed for these details. I for one, not being a 1/64 collector, had never heard of M2 and searching, have just found a sizeable range - but no history. Your details help.

@charles-rockett Prior to "M2" some decent 1/64 was available. The best bang-for-the-buck was the American Muscle Series,  mostly '60's cars w/opening hoods & trunks. Hot Wheels  released collector sets, etc.. but they were pricey and Greenlight  was flirting with quality 1/64.

M2 was a game-changer. Their initial release of $3.99 1950's cars blew everyone away. All had opening doors/hoods, separate headlight lenes, authentic colors, etc...  They have since expanded production to hundreds of 1/64 styles/makes and spawned a mass-market blitz that seems to grow incrementally year after year.

Today, great & affordable 1/64 is everywhere and high-end stuff  is incredible. Here's a few low quality  pics of early M2s and a couple pics of high-end stuff.

@chris Nice summation Chris. The quality of today's 1/64 models is incredible with most priced under ten dollars. I wasn't looking to start collecting another scale when I picked up a few 1/64 models....today I'm hooked. When I find a new model I try to place it in the same display case with it's bigger brother in 1.24 or 1/18 scale. With space being a problem for many collectors, this scale is a no brainer.

Nice set of models. I think it’s time for me to start adding more of my stuff in this forum. Stay tuned.

Yeah, I hear 'ya. I could go nuts  and post relentlessly  for months!  I have a nice collection of 1/64 but have REMOVED just a handful from their packaging. Honest, 99.8% of my 300 + piece collection is still factory sealed.

Who wants to view models in boxes or blister packs?  😬 😬    This past summer, I sold a few cases of "MIB"  low value 1/64 because I'm out of peg-hook  display space. I'm glad you've OPENED  at least some of yours.... so that I can see them! 😀 😀

Nice summation Chris.

Thank you. Initially, I more to say, but trimmed it down. I can, quite easily, become pedantic! 😬 🙄 😬

Regarding packaging, I did the opposite. I usually took the models out of the packaging, often to use on my train layout. For recent purchases, I have been mostly leaving them in the packaging.
