This weekend in 1999 I retired from the Post Office after 35 years, here's the vehicles I drove...
Mid 1960s it was the Jeep with a foldable seat and sweep accelerator pedal, a very uncomfortable vehicle to drive and not very well suited to those harsh Fairbanks winters.
There was that 2 1/2 ton Chevrolet parcel post truck Note the CD sticker stating "This is a unit of your Civil Defense"
Dodge built a very good vehicle replacing those Jeeps.
In 1973 I transfered to Dallas Texas where I drove many of these..
Also I did collection runs in a Dodge built one ton equipped with a 318 V8.
Finally the famous LLV from the mid 80s.
These are 40 years old and still widely used.
I've never regretted my move to Texas and now enjoy my retirement with son and daughter nearby and also 3 grandchildren. Oh and also those little 1/24 and 1/43 vehicles.

Congratulations David, I'm very happy for you! Timing is everything, right?
It might interest you to know that I just completed a "quicky project" on my 1/18 Grumman LLV. I fabricated posable steering (details & pics in the Handicrafts Forum ). Sure wish I had 1/18 versions of ALL the Mail trucks you drove! 😏 😀
Congratulations on many years of service !
hear hear! Well done David
love the old pictures. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations, David! Enjoy!! My dad retired form the Post Office in 1984.
