Back in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's when FORD had one of their Assembly Plants here in St. Paul, Minnesota it was always fun to take one of their guided tours. My Dad took me a few times during my younger years and then after I was married, my wife and I visited it a couple of times. It was converted over to producing Ford Trucks only back in the 1980's and then sadly, eventually Ford abandoned the plant and was gone from our local scene. Even sadder, the plant was then torn down for apartment development. Sometimes "so called" progress leaves a bitter taste.
Records show this car rolled off the line on October 6, 1956. It was always a fun time of year when in the Fall, the next years models were being revealed. You'll notice the car is a 1957 Ford. Oh for those days again!

Growing up in the St. Louis area we had a Chevy Plant, Ford/Mercury plant, Chrysler plant, a GMC plant and a Corvette Plant. Guess how many are there today/

Sadly, I don't need to guess how many. I'm fairly certain the number is ZERO. It's a travesty. But hey Mr. Jackman, you sure had it made with that many plants to visit. I hope you did visit a few times.

And my all time favorite 50's Ford. Thanks George. 💯👍
We have a GM plant in Kansas City, Kansas and a Ford plant in Claycomo, a suburb of Kansas City,Missouri. I grew up about 10 miles from the plant. We drove by it often. Though they didn't build Mustangs there, they always had some awaiting shipment to dealers. We eagerly awaited our first look at the new cars. The Claycomo plant builds F100 trucks. I have toured it a couple of times as a cub scout. I got a tour of the old GM plant when I was very young. It was torn down many years ago and a new GM plant built on a new site. My brother and I used to take his Chevelle to local car shows and many times older gentlemen would stop by and say they worked on the Chevelle assembly line.
@georgeschire George, a friend of mine in high school father was the personnel director at the Corvette plant and I got to go through it many times. I also got to go through the Chrysler plant a couple of times with my Boy Scout Troop.
